National Day of Service and Remembrance

Join Rocky Mountain Conservancy and Rocky Mountain National Park for a volunteer project in honor of September 12th (In honor of September 11th, the National Day of Service and Remembrance). On this National Day of Service and Remembrance Project, the Conservancy will be supporting Rocky Mountain National Park’s Wildland Firefighters by hosting a volunteer project with the fire fuels reduction team.

Volunteers will help wildland firefighters manage fuels in front country areas surrounding roads, trailheads, campgrounds, and the neighboring communities. This critical work helps protect firefighters from unnecessary hazards while managing wildfires and mitigates risk of wildland fires affecting nearby towns.

Who: Volunteer must be able to hike up to a mile and lift/carry up to 20 lbs across uneven terrain (Volunteers must be at least 16 years old).

What: Volunteer Fire Fuels Management Project

Where: Directions provided upon registration.

When: Thursday, September 12th from 9AM-1PM
