Higher Ground – The Mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park and their Geology
This summer, Rocky Mountain Conservancy is excited to sponsor a series of free, public talks at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park! The series kicks off with “Higher Ground – The Mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park and their Geology,” presented by Nancy McNab. If you’ve ever wondered how the park’s eponymous mountains came to be, and the forces that continue to shape the park’s landscapes, we hope you’ll join us!

Nancy McNab is a geologist, Certified Interpretive Guide, and mountain enthusiast who is passionate about connecting people to our wild and natural areas via education, shared experience, and interpretation. Since 2008 Nancy has worked as a volunteer interpretive ranger and naturalist teaching about Colorado geology, geography and alpine ecology. She’s developed and delivered interpretive programs, training programs and conducted field trips for Federal agencies (USFS, NPS) Loveland Ski Area, Denver Botanic Gardens, and a number of mountain area non-profit groups. She is a long term Ambassador in the Mt Blue Sky Recreation Area and was volunteer coordinator for the USFS Clear Creek Ranger District for over 8 years. She is a Leave No Trace Trainer. Nancy loves hiking, backpacking, skiing, kayaking and hunting wildflowers. A self-proclaimed “map nerd”, she lives with her husband, Stewart, in Tabernash, Colorado.
