Rocky Mountain Conservancy and Rocky Mountain National Park are excited to announce that our Winter Speaker Series is back again for 2026, and we hope you’ll join us!
This year our series begins with a family-friendly presentation on cryptids (Bigfoot? Jackalopes?), which promises to be a lot of fun! Later talks include a look at what makes the architecture of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center so special, and updates on critical ecological issues facing the park.
DATE CHANGE! – now Sunday, January 18th: Cryptids of the Park: What Lurks in our Wilderness?, presented by Nick Morris, park ranger, RMNP
Rocky Mountain National Park is home to tens of thousands of animals, large and small. But what of those of legend? Join Ranger Nick for this family-friendly presentation and explore the amazing and elusive world of ‘Cryptids’: stories of creatures known only in folklore. Who are they? Are they out there? And how does our wilderness preserve them? (Appropriate for ages 8 and up.)
Sunday, February 22nd: Architecture as Artifact: Exploring the Context and Design Principles of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, presented by Jessie Foster, park ranger, RMNP
Whether you’re a design lover, history enthusiast, or simply curious about how architecture shapes everyday life, come learn how the legacy of the Mission 66 program redefined how we experience public spaces. We will also look at the principles of organic architecture that inspired the form and function of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. Any Frank Lloyd Wright fans out there? This one is for you.
Sunday, March 22nd: From Dawn to Dusk: Conserving Bats in Rocky Mountain National Park, presented by Dr. Michelle Verant, wildlife veterinarian, National Park Service
Sunday, April 26th: details coming soon!
Each 1-hour presentation will begin at 2:00pm in the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center Auditorium, located at 1000 US-36 in Estes Park, CO.
