National Public Lands Day Volunteer Event

Sep 28, 2024

Love public lands? Rocky Mountain Conservancy invites you to spend the day volunteering in Rocky Mountain National Park.

To mark National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28th, you’re invited to join Rocky Mountain Conservancy and Rocky Mountain National Park in the battle against invasive plant species threatening the park! We’ll spend the day tackling invasives in an accessible and visible area of the park where your work will have a big impact. This is a great way to care for Rocky Mountain National Park, and help ensure its beauty will be enjoyed for generations to come.

As an added thank you, volunteers who spend the full day with us will also receive a coupon for 1 day of fee-free entry at a participating public land site for use in the coming year.

We hope you’ll join us! Learn more and register via Eventbrite.

Who: We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers ages 18 and up who are willing to work hard! Space is limited to 12 participants.

When: Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 9:00am – 3:00pm

Where: East side of Rocky Mountain National Park, near the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station. The exact meeting location and work site will be shared with participants as details are confirmed.

What to bring: Come prepared to spend a full day working outdoors. Wear long sleeves, longs pants, sturdy shoes or boots, and be prepared to get dirty. We also recommend a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and other sun protection. All safety gear will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own work gloves if you prefer.

Please also bring plenty of water and a bag lunch. Snacks will be provided.

The Work: Participants will be led by RMNP biological science technician and “Weed Warriors” team lead, Bethany. She will introduce some of the invasive plant species threatening Rocky and instruct participants on how to remove target species. Expect to be clipping and bagging seed heads or stems, severing underground taproots, hand-pulling whole plants, or otherwise removing invasive plants.

Space is limited! Click here to register via Eventbrite.
