NEW! Bright Lights & Dark Skies: Family Astronomy
Aug 24, 2019Free – $25.00
Dark skies at a national park offer the chance to see points of light like planets, stars, and meteors. Fall is a great time to see meteors! In addition, many species of wildlife depend on the ability to see the sky to navigate and migrate. Artificial light disturbs the ability for wildlife to navigate and migrate, and also disturbs our opportunity to feel connected with the entire universe. Discover some of the interesting ways wildlife use the night sky (with some hands-on demonstrations), find out where meteors come from, and explore ways you can help protect the night for wildlife and people. The program will end with telescope viewing inside the park (weather permitting). This class is designed for families with children ages 6-12.
