The moose is the largest antlered animal in the world and is predominantly found on the wet side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Bulls may weigh 800-1200 pounds and cows weigh about 600-800 pounds. These solitary animals are at home in the water, submerging for 3 to 4 minutes and swimming for miles. Their 1″ wide nostrils shut tight while under water. They breed in late September/early October and shed their antlers in December/January.
