b'Next Generation ProgramsEDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS: Overall, the Next Generation Fund (NGF) enabled Rockys Education and Outreach Program to provide 258 unique programs to more than 13,500 participants. This included more than 70 winter snowshoe programs, 16 days of Discovery Days programming, and more than 100 days of school field-trip programs. For many of these kids, it was their first outdoor adventure, discovering and learning about the unique resources of Rocky Mountain National Park. For some, it was their first visit to a national park. Support from the Next Generation Fund has been crucial in creating these valuable experiences. That includes annual support to help schools that cannot afford bus transportation costs to the park, as well as supplies and materials for programming. In addition, the Next Generation Fund provided support for stipends, training and housing costs for the cadre of education interns who are mentored by the parks education rangersmost of whom are just starting their professional careers working with children outdoors, nurturing curiosity and inspiring the next generation of stewards.
