Snowshoe Hike: Emerald Lake

Experience the magic of winter in Rocky Mountain National Park on a guided snowshoe hike to Emerald Lake!
This scenic trek begins at the Bear Lake Trailhead and winds through snow-covered forests, past frozen lakes, and stunning alpine scenery. Along the way, learn about winter ecology and local wildlife while soaking up breathtaking views. Join us for an unforgettable winter adventure!
Snowshoe experience is not required. We’ll show you how to get strapped in and give you a chance to practice on level ground before we leave the trailhead. This is a great chance to try out a new outdoor skill!
Meeting Location: We will meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center and travel together into the park on Conservancy vehicles.
Distance: 3.5 miles
Starting Elevation: 9,475 ft
Elevation gain and loss: 700 ft
Level: Moderate- These programs are most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Participants should be comfortable navigating both maintained trails and unmaintained meadows or grassy areas. Prior experience hiking or walking above 8,000 feet is recommended. This program is open to participants ages 16 and up.

What to Expect: Plan to be outside in winter conditions for a full day. Please come dressed in weather appropriate layers and waterproof, insulated hiking boots or snow boots.

- Sunglasses & Sunscreen
