Description

Considered a migratory species in Colorado, the Bald Eagle commonly nests in the coastal areas of Florida and Alaska.  Eagles build huge nests, returning to them year after year.  Nesting begins in the fall, and by March the eaglets have learned how to fly and hunt, soon thereafter leaving the nest.  Because eaglets cannot withstand human disturbance during nesting, large wilderness tracts are essential to the preservation of this national symbol.
